Inventory Control
Having what customers want, when they want it, is critical to our success. How well we maintain our inventory has a major impact on our customer service and reputation as a distribution company. The job of an Inventory Manager, for example, entails much more today than just "purchasing" products. Though much of the data is now managed by software, maintaining accurate, computerized inventory records, placing stock orders with suppliers, expediting orders when necessary, processing returns to suppliers, transferring material to other stores, and verifying the accuracy of physical inventories are all part of the Inventory Management process. Positions in Inventory Control thus require candidates with b attention to details and aptitude in using modern software.
Cycle Counting
Cycle Counters perform the critical job of verifying the accuracy of our computer database's account of our physical inventory. This requires a hands-on count of the inventory three (3) times a year. When there are discrepancies between the actual count and what the computer system shows as available, a little detective work is needed to correct the inventory counts.
